Symposium in Honour of Marc Ditzhaus

Family, friends, colleagues, and long-time academic companions gathered in the Rudolf Chaudoire Pavilion to celebrate Marc for his significant contributions to statistics and his lasting impact on all of us. The academic program featured a series of high-level talks, including lectures by the current DR-IBS president Jan Beyersmann (Ulm), Marc’s former office colleagues Sarah Friedrich (Augsburg) and Paavo Sattler (Dortmund), as well as international collaborators such as Takeshi Emura (Hiroshima), Arthur Gretton (London), and Łukasz Smaga (Poznań).
In addition to the scientific content, the symposium provided space for personal exchange and shared memories. Many conversations made it clear how much Marc is appreciated not only for his excellent research but also for his open-minded and positive nature.
We thank all participants for making the event a success and especially Marc Ditzhaus for the inspiration he has given us, both professionally and personally.
