Sustainability at the Department of Statistics
At TU Dortmund University, there are various groups and initiatives that are committed to sustainability. These activities are bundled and coordinated by the central sustainability office. In addition, there are contact persons in the individual faculties.
Sustainability and statistics meet especially when it comes to visualization, processing and evaluation of data. Knowledge of statistical methods and models is relevant, for example, when calculating climate models and the personal CO2 footprint or electricity and heating costs. Furthermore, there are many applications of statistical or machine learning methods in connection with environmental or sustainability topics.
We want to concentrate knowledge, projects and ideas on this at our department and implement them together. If you have questions, ideas, suggestions or wishes, please contact us or write us an email.
The Department of Statistics also offers the additional certificate studium oecologicum (certificate in general in German, may be possible to study in English as well).
