The campus of the Technical University of Dortmund is located near the freeway junction Dortmund West, where the Sauerland line A45 crosses the Ruhr expressway B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station by AirportExpress and from there to the university by S-Bahn. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.

Career prospects

Because of the variety of job opportunities, the job prospects for statisticians are excellent. The more than 1,500 statisticians trained in Dortmund to date have had no problems on the national and international job market. Several job offers often left them spoiled for choice after graduation. Possible jobs are offered in banks and insurance companies, in the pharmaceutical industry, in quality assurance, in administration and in research. And over 50 of our graduates are now professors themselves.

The lecture series "Statistics at Work" provides an insight into the multi-faceted professional life of a statistician. Here, graduates of the department report from their professional practice and present their company as well as the tasks they perform there.

With an external internship, students of the faculty can already gain important practical experience during their studies. Current internship opportunities are advertised in the internship exchange.

Furthermore, students of the faculty have the opportunity to work as student or research assistants during their studies. Current offers are published under SHK/WHF jobs.

Current topics for Bachelor's or Master's theses are advertised in the thesis exchange. This often offers students the opportunity to write their thesis in cooperation with an external company.
