General questions for foreigners in education

  1. Are there scholarships for "International Students?

Tips on financing your studies and information about scholarships can be found here.

  2. Does the Faculty of Statistics offer online courses?

    No.

  3. How much are the tuition fees to study at the TU Dortmund?

There are no tuition fees, only the so-called semester fee. The current amount and the composition can be found here.

  4. I would like to work alongside my studies. Is that possible?

Our degree program is a full-time program, i.e. it is designed to invest 30-40 hours per week in studies. This includes attending lectures, tutorials and seminars (sometimes with compulsory attendance!) as well as reviewing the lecture material, working on exercises, writing reports and preparing presentations. Our program is therefore not designed as a part-time program! Many students are employed on a small scale to supplement the financing of their studies.

  5. Credit transfer

An application for credit transfer (e.g. from a previous study program) can be made at any time to the Examination Office Statistics (Statistics) or to Dr. Daniel Horn (Data Science). Course credits do not expire.

  6. My question(s) was not answered by this FAQ. What can I do?

All questions concerning the study programs of the Faculty of Statistics can be answered by the student advisor team at studienberatungstatistik.tu-dortmundde.

One of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station by AirportExpress and from there to the university by S-Bahn. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.
