Arrangements for the Minor Subject
In addition to the mathematical-statistical lectures, the statistics programme (Bachelor and Master) also requires a minor subject in which the basics of an application area are to be learned. The emphasis is on learning interdisciplinary work.
There are fixed agreements for several minor subjects listed below. In addition, other suitable subjects may be admitted as a minor subject upon application.
Those who are not sure at the beginning of their studies can certainly listen to two or three minor subjects and then decide on one minor subject after a few weeks. Enrollment is only for the degree in Statistics; the minor subject is only specified in the context of the examination organization (registration for examinations, etc.).
Registration for the examinations (oral examinations, exams, etc.) takes place, depending on the semester, either in the examination office of the Department of Statistics or via the BOSS system. Please pay attention to registration deadlines!
Please note
- The registration deadline for exams at the Department of Business and Economics (minor subject in Economics, maybe also in "Operations Research" (in the module 'Numerik')) is usually around the middle of the lecture period!
- The minor subject 'Theoretische Medizin' is partly offered by the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. For this, enrollment as a visiting student in Bochum is required.

One of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.
From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station by AirportExpress and from there to the university by S-Bahn. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.
