TRR 391 and the Department of Statistics welcome Professor Sayar Karmakar from the University of Florida
We are particularly excited to have him as a lecturer for the master's course "High-Dimensional Time Series Analysis" as well as for this year's 1st TRR 391 Summer School on „Generalized Additive Modelling and Statistical Methods for High-Dimensional Spatio-temporal Data", taking place from 12 to 14 June. There, he will teach more than 60 registered participants about statistical methods and applications for high-dimensional spatio-temporal data.
Sayar Karmakar has been an assistant professor of statistics at the University of Florida since August 2018. He received his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Chicago under supervision of Dr. Wei Biao Wu. His research interests revolve around Time-series and high-dimensional Statistics with an emphasis on Econometrics. His interests also extend to Neural Networks, Game theory, and Applied Probability.
During his stay, Sayar Karmakar can be found in room 3 of the CDI building. We ask all who are interested to contact him (sayarkarmakarufledu) and take advantage of this great opportunity to exchange ideas with a high-profile researcher.
