From 30 June 30 to 1 July 2025, the symposium "Recent Advances in Meta-Analysis" took place at the Rudolf-Chaudoire-Pavillon of TU Dortmund University. The event gathered researchers and practitioners to discuss modern developments in meta-analysis, with a particular focus on methodological innovations for scenarios involving few studies and small sample sizes.

The symposium was held as part of the DFG-funded joint research project "Valid methods for meta-analyses with few studies and small sample sizes" led by Prof. Tim Friede and Prof. Markus Pauly. We are grateful for the support of the German Research Foundation (DFG) in making this event possible.

A highlight of the symposium was the impressive lineup of internationally renowned speakers, who shared their latest research findings and perspectives:

  • Prof. Sofia Dias (University of York)
  • Prof. Katja Ickstadt (TU Dortmund University)
  • Prof. Guido Knapp (TU Dortmund University)
  • Prof. Oliver Kuss (German Diabetes Center Düsseldorf)
  • Prof. Gerta Rücker (Freiburg University)
  • Prof. Wolfgang Viechtbauer (Maastricht University)

The event featured a mix of keynote and contribued talks and discussions, fostering a stimulating exchange of ideas in the field of research synthesis. We are also pleased to congratulate the four winners of the Best Presentation Awards, recognizing nice contributions by non-professors

  • M.sc. Jan-Bernd Igelmann (TU Dortmund University)
  • M.Sc. Renato Panaro (UMG Göttingen)
  • Dr. Christian Röver (UMG Göttingen)
  • Dr. Sibylle Sturtz (IQWIG)

We thank all speakers, participants, and organizers for making this symposium a great experience!
