Stats, Females and PhD 2024

On June 12, 2024, the event "Stats, Females and PhD" took place for the second time. As in the previous year, five (post)doctoral researchers from the department gathered to share their experiences related to pursuing a PhD and to answer questions from the attending students. This year, the following researchers participated in the discussion: Marléne Baumeister, Franziska Kappenberg, Maxime Faymonville, Sheila Görz, and Pauline Baur (pictured from left to right).

In a group discussion, the speakers shared their experiences with the challenges and opportunities of pursuing a PhD. Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to ask specific questions and receive individual advice in one-on-one conversations.

The aim of "Stats, Females and PhD" is to encourage female students to consider pursuing a PhD and to address any uncertainties they may have. The event will be held again next year during the lecture period.

Stats, Females & PhD

On October 4, 2022, Stats, Females and PhD took place for the first time - an exchange between (post)doctoral students and female students of the faculty. Five (post)doctoral students of the faculty (picture from left to right: Julia Duda, Maxime Faymonville, Marléne Baumeister, Leonie Schürmeyer, Franziska Kappenberg) talked for 2 hours about their experiences with doctoral studies at the Faculty of Statistics and answered questions. Afterwards, the female students were able to talk to the scientists individually. The aim of Stats, Females & PhD is to inform and to remove often unfounded doubts of female students interested in doing a PhD. The event will be offered again next year during lecture hours.
