By car

The campus of the Technical University of Dortmund is located near the freeway junction Dortmund West, where the Sauerland line A45 crosses the Ruhr expressway B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, it takes just over 20 minutes to get to Dortmund Central Station by AirportExpress and from there to the university by S-Bahn. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.

New Tele-Course in cooperation with University of Trier

We would like to draw your attention to the new 4.5 CP course "Modern Methods in Survey Statistics" open for the study programs M.Sc. Statistik, M.Sc. Econometrics, B.Sc. Data Science and M.Sc. Data Science. For students of the M.Sc. Statistik study program this course can be part of the qualification for the EMOS certificate.

This module is held by Prof. Dr. Ralf Münnich from the University of Trier and will be offered as a Tele-Course, meaning that the participation for students of TU Dortmund University takes place via a Zoom-Link while students of the University of Trier participate on-site in the lecture.

Please mind that the course starts on 28.04.25 and has the following times:

28.04., 14:15 - 15:45
05.05., 14:15 - 17:30
12.05., 14:15 - 17:30
19.05., 14:15 - 17:30
02.06., 14:15 - 15:45
16.06., 14:15 - 17:30
30.06., 14:15 - 17:30
07.07., 14:15 - 15:45
14.07., Oral exam (preliminary date, will be held online)

The applicability of the course depends on your study program and is as follows:

MS 6 / 7 "Spezialgebiete" for M.Sc. Statistik (the course qualifies in particular for the EMOS certificate)
BD W3 for B.Sc. Data Science
MD E3 for M.Sc. Data Science
ME6 Applied Econometrics for M.Sc. Econometrics

More details about the content of the course will be communicated soon in a separate email.

The course will be organized via Stud.IP (the counterpart of Moodle at Uni Trier). If you are interested please write an email until 10.04.25, 23:59 to jakob.beckertu-dortmundde so that we can add you to the Stud.IP course. Jakob will be responsible for the administration of this course for all students from our department.

Note that it is not required to travel to Trier for taking the course or the exam!
