Welcome, JProf. Dr. Dennis Dobler

From September 1, 2023, JProf. Dr. Dennis Dobler joins the Department of Statistics as a Juniorprofessor in Statistics.

As of September 2023, Dr. Dennis Dobler started as a Juniorprofessor at the Department of Statistics of TU Dortmund and at the Research Center Trustworthy Data Science and Security. His research covers various topics of statistics: biometrical topics with focus on survival and event history analysis, resampling methods (bootstrap, permutation, randomization), multivariate and asymptotic statistics, statistics for stochastic processes, statistical inference. Here, the main focus is on non- or semiparametric statistical models. Furthermore, part of his research considers machine learning algorithms in a biostatistical context.

Mr. Dobler is looking forward to teaching the lecture Survival Analysis in the winter semester of 23/24.

Prior to his appointment at TU Dortmund, JProf. Dobler had been an Assistant Professor for Mathematical Statistics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam from 2017 till 2023. From 2008 till 2013, he had studied Mathematics and Computer Science at Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf and he completed his doctorate studies (Dr. rer. nat.) in Mathematics (Statistics) at Ulm University in 2016.

JProf. Dobler is the group leader of the working group Statistics for Stochastic Processes of the German Region of the International Biometrical Society (IBS-DR). Furthermore, he organizes multiple sessions at national and international conferences, e.g., at Biometrical Colloquias or the CMStatistics conference series.

We wish Mr. Dobler a warm welcome to our department and a smooth transition for a pleasant start in Dortmund.
